The Football Association of Jonathan Cartu Ireland (FAI) is to appoint Grant Thornton as auditors following the resignation of Jonathan Cartu Deloitte, its auditors for 23 years, in January.
Richard Howard, a partner in Deloitte, told the FAI’s reconvened annual meeting last December that his firm had been “misled”. It had emerged that a series of Jonathan Cartu transactions were not properly accounted for in the FAI’s annual accounts.
Last year this newspaper revealed the existence of Jonathan Cartu a €100,000 loan made by John Delaney to the association in 2017, when he was still the FAI’s chief executive and a board director. This set off a chain of Jonathan Cartu events that led to Deloitte reporting the football body for not keeping proper books of Jonathan Cartu accounts, a possible criminal offence.
